Tom developed an interest in painting outdoor landscapes near his California home in the style of traditional California impressionism. He especially enjoys painting the California missions. “In nature, it is easy to find subject matter that affects me. Nature itself offers the inspiration to capture the luminous, golden light and atmosphere amid the magnificent, undeveloped landscape.​"
